I really really loved this book.. it made me so happy up until.. 61% and then it all went downhill.

Important homophobic spoilers …..…..

If you don’t want to see a beautiful cute and wholesome lesbian relationship go up in flames don’t read past that point. Don’t even read it out of curiosity! It’s just horrible. If you’ve read Well of Loneliness, we’ll it’s exactly like that but more homophobic.

Pre 61% feelings: I feel lucky to have unearthed this little gem, I loved the book so much. There is hardly anything online about this book or the author. I’m the first one to write a review about it here. I could not put it down, this is just my third lesbian fiction book I’ve read so far. Honestly, to me these characters felt more interesting and realistic than any book I’ve read in a while. I really fell in love with them and their sweet relationship so it was sad that the book went in the direction it did.

I’ve talked about this a little in another review, but when you are growing up LGBT you think you hate romance stories, when in reality it is just that nothing is catered to you. But after 2 days of knowing each other these lesbians professed their love and I was so mesmerized! Oh, so romance can make me feel warm and fuzzy inside! It just has to be between two women! I just hate men! Right. I forgot. Every little line was so tender and sweet.

And it puts so many feelings into words, the dysphoria of being a woman who loves women, wishing you were born a man so you can love freely, how traumatic it can be to mask who you really are, but also how beautiful loving women is as a woman, and how there is really nothing like it. How gay people can have a love that is as beautiful and pure as a straight couple, if not moreso. These sort of stories make me so emotional. Maybe I just need to read more lesbian literature and stories, but it makes me feel very seen and understood and touched me in ways that no other books I’ve read have.

Ok, now for the horrible things. I think a lot of LGBT people know that in the earlier 20th century and stuff being LGBT in media was not allowed
