Very very slow. Pretty much all the “action” happens at the end of the book.

Wow. The complexity of families in Ireland and their names was quite something. However, i liked this book and may read some more in the series. I enjoyed watching someone find out about her past and her heritage.

Enjoyed.
Feel this book was more a set up for the series rather than a mystery per say. However, I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what happens at Sullivans in the next book!

I believe this is my favorite cozy of the year, so far. It's more than a mystery, it's a travelogue of a sort. But it's not a 'busy' book. Maura Donovan finds herself fulfilling a deathbed promise she made to her grandmother by going to Ireland to see the land and the people she comes from.
Maura's worked hard all her life, as has her grandmother, but they don't have a lot of money to show for it. So Maura's surprised to find that her grandmother has set aside money for Maura to make the trip.
Off she goes to the village of Leap where Gran grew up. Maura finds her Gran's old and dear friends and relatives. And a body in a bog. And a job at the local pub. And body in the street. And a rather grumpy (but handsome) pub owner.
I highly enjoyed the adventures of Maura finding her way to Leap, learning how to drive a stick shift on the left side of the road, finding herself with a job in a pub and feeling like she belongs in the village.
The dead bodies are almost secondary and Maura doesn't feel compelled to solve the mystery, just finds herself at the wrong place at the wrong time and becoming involved in the periphery of the investigation.
I already love Sheila Connolly's Orchard series and this one is even better. I look forward to reading each book in the series as it becomes available. It just might be pre-orderable....

I had started this series at the end, rather than the beginning. With that said I think the series should be read in order but they can be read as standalone.

Buried in a Bog is the first instalment in Sheila Connolly's “A County Cork Mystery“ series. I have read a few in the Museum series but I must say this is my favorite.

This instalment is more than a mystery--it's the story of a young woman from Boston USA whose dealing with the loss of her grandmother and finding her way as well as a story of a small village in Ireland where she goes because that was her grandmother's last wish. It's a story of past and present relationships, generations, and family. I think the author did a good job of setting the stage for this series as we have the back story with respect to Maura and now we can enjoy the Ireland along with her.

I highly recommend this series to all my mystery loving friends

This was a slow start for me, compacted by the fact that it was almost 100 pages in before we even know what the mystery was going to be. The ending was very satisfying, however, and the setting makes a second entry a definite read as far as I'm concerned.

Not great, but not terrible either. I found the main character rude at times, seemingly for exposition and not as a true character trait or anything. The mystery part was interesting but it was so wrapped up in personal stuff that it felt kind of dull
