Fijn om dit soort boodschappen te horen terwijl ik rondloop in een land waar de schoonheidsidealen ontzettend onbereikbaar voor mij zijn.
Wat me tegenhoudt om het vijf sterren te geven is het gedeelte over gezondheid en obesitas, dat kwam erg on-wetenschappelijk over.

Sooo, I looved the book and the Idea of body positivity! Megan really writes nicely and gives you something to think about. She pushes some bounderies and cracks some of our generalised thought.
Nevertheless, remember to be carefull when reading books which want to show you a new way of thinking. Megan presents a loot of studies for both sides: dietland and body postivity, which is very nice. But I came to the point, that she hasn't read the studies completely which she is citing. And maybe she is just repeating words from other BoPo-Girls. (Long example ahead ->)
Spoiler E.g. she cites a study about iron intake in the Chapter "Dessert every damn day" where thai and swedisch girl were given the same thai-food and their iron uptake was measured. Megan claims that the study shows that the Thailandic girls enjoyed their food more and hence, absorbed more iron. Which lead her to the conclusion - if you enjoy your meals more the more nutrients you can utilise from the said supper. And this is the point where I am pretty sure that she hasnt touched the study at all herself. The study was conduced by completly different means - it wanted to investigate why previous studies of Thailandic Iron Up-Take showed that the people dont utilise enough iron from their meals but on the other hand none of them showed an iron deficiency. And they only say something about how the people contribuiting to the study feel about the food once: when they mention that the swedish women say they liked the food but it was a bit spicy. So clearly Megan, or from whom she got that idea, is drawing wrooong conclusion. Seriously, read the damn studies you cite!

This in the backhead gave a little bitterness to the whole story. Dont take everything she says granted! But you should do that from any person ;)

Nevertheless, again, this book has great Ideas and is amazing as a start in the BoPo community! If you suffered or suffer from eating disorders - read it! Really! This was my start into the BoPo movement ♥

This was so, so good. It felt like reading a conversation between you and Megan. Some of the information I knew from previous books (websites/social media) I have read before, but it was still nice to read reinforcements.

Inspirational. Impactful. Interesting.

If you love books about body positivity, you’ll love what Megan has to say.
Her voice is fresh, cruel (in the best possible way) and straightforward.
She gets you. And she hits you right in the feels.

"When we look in the mirror we don’t see ourselves clearly because we’re looking through a lens of every perfect body we’ve ever seen. Against those images, we are always too fat, too ugly, too dark, too imperfect"

I have struggled with body image for so many years. I found Megan Jayne on Instagram right when her book came out. It has been so inspiring and uplifting. If you need help with loving yourself, this book is for you.

Definitely a thought-provoking read that addressed a number of thoughts I've already been having and gave me more to think about.
