I can't exactly give this a rave review but I also can't say that it is absolutely boring. The beginning drags but as more characters are introduced, things seem to liven ever so slightly. I found the abilities of the Asha rather interesting, more so the Bone witches and their abilities. I thought the ability to raise the dead ( humans and animals) to be kind of cool. I was also fascinated by the heartsglass and how that came to be.

The plot is still pretty ho hum but as this is a trilogy I think it is more so to set the lay of the land. Would I earnestly recommend this book? No. But if you need a palate cleanser, its a cool choice. I hope the following books arent as dry.

Very descriptive, the authors writing style is amazing, and when I read The Sacrifice by Rin I wanted to pick up more by her. This story was good but unfortunately slow and did a lot of introduction which is expected in a series I guess. I also like that we got little portions of present day Tea at the end of each chapter as she is sharing and taking us through her life of becoming a Dark Asha - Bone Witch, I will give book two a go and hope that it isn't as slow and does not have so much thrown at you at once like the middle portion with so many different character introductions.
