I know this collection might be considered cheesy or cliché. I know it's not ground-breaking.
But it worked for me - yet again. There are so many poems in this book that it's almost impossible not to find at the very least one that speaks to you. And I've definitely found more than one.

I'd say that this is one of my favourite poetry collections. Some poems just touched me and made me feel stuff.
After two years, I still think that this collection is phenomenal, emotional and impactful.

Another Favourite Poem:
And if you're alone, I hope you know that I'm alone too.
So I believe we will be friends.
P.S.
You are beautiful and loved by the universe that made you, with every atom and star moving in perfect alignment to make you, you.

----------------------------------------

Favourite Poem:
I won’t compose prose every morning you open your eyes next to me (I won’t compare you to a summer day).
I won’t kiss the tears from your cheeks whenever you cry.
I won’t remember every appointment.
I won’t keep the sheen on my armour.
I won’t know what to say sometimes.
I won’t get your order right.
I’ll be late.
I’ll fuck up.
But I’ll write something for you when you least expect it (in summer or winter).
But I’ll hold as tight as I can whenever I can.
But I’ll burst through the door as soon as I remember.
But I’ll polish it until it shines again.
But I’ll say something anyway.
But I’ll go back and make it right.
But I’ll get there.
But I’ll try.

This book just didn't work for me.

There are many great ideas and some fractions totally resonated with me. I can see why this book helps people with their feelings because it portrays many different ones that many have had.
But I also felt that on some of these notions you could write entire books and that this mass of ideas is overwhelming.
Also, the idea of a poem collection is just not something that's for me, I can deal better with coherent stories. Sometimes, it seemed a little bit too strained.

This is the most beautiful thing I have ever read.

You can see why it is called "I wrote this for you". The poems took me straight to a memory of a person or a time.

There were some poems and entries that didn't affect me, however there were some that hit me like a freight train and some that made my heart stop for a brief second.

Absolutely stunning piece of work.

I’m not one who cries easily at television or movies, but this book was such a thing of beauty that I caught myself crying two or three times while I read it. It inspires you to love harder and dream louder and feel everything more fiercely than you did before. Or, at least it did for me.

The way it is crafted, the artwork and the way the words all fit together so smoothly, is a work of art all in itself. It is rare, it feels, to find a book that transcends being a beautiful gem and turns into the brightest star you’ve ever seen.

And I recommend listening to Coldplay’s “Mylo Xyolto” while reading this; it added a really nice atmosphere to the experience.

And if the author of this should read this review, I would like to marry you so you should call me. Or I could buy you dinner first, either way.

It's impossible to select just a few favorite poems or quotes from this book. You just can't, you'll love everything.

i read 'i wrote this for you' back when i was first starting college and my first serious relationship was starting to crack. i was just wandering the poetry section of b&n and found this gem calling out to me. just the title called to me and i went on an emotional ride.

'i wrote this for you' is formatted like a tumblr post or an instagram post with a picture and a 'deep' caption. that might have been a reason why i was so drawn to it before reading anything. it reminded me of using lyrics or a quote as a caption, haha.

the first crack is the last

i lied when i told you i forgot. i know it doesn't seem like a big thing but i wanted to tell you the truth and never, ever lie to you.
because that's how it starts.

i lend this out to friends when they're going through a hard time and just needs a hug. it's the one i pick up when things in life are getting a bit too out of hand and i need something simple, like just a few words, to ground me again.

there will be something in here for you. i mean, it's written for you. don't think too deeply. don't try and see more than what's just there. let the words wash over you, drown you for a second, and when it leaves, the air that rushes into your lungs will feel like what breathing for the first time felt like. maybe that was just me, but i'm sure there's something for you in 'i wrote this for you'.

Um livro com vários poemas incrível e reflexivos para vida. Bem curto, mas essencial.
