This sweet book brings fairies to life in a new way. It teaches you how to befriend fairies and how that friendship will look which can also be used as a sweet metaphor for befriending people. The illustrations are beautiful with purple, pink, and blue tones throughout that really bring the story to life.

Great rhyming story about how to make a fairy friend! And the drawings are very reminiscent of Mary Blair- you can certainly see the Disney influence that makes the book feel like an instant classic.

1) All fairies are Caucasian? As well as the main character and her dog, who is white with a couple of freckles? It is jarring. 2) The text refers to your “fairy friend” and uses the singular pronoun consistently, and talks about what “you two” will do, referring to the main character and her fairy - but the illustrations show a gang of 5 or 6 fairies in every scene. I think this is a confusing discrepancy for this audience.
Lovely and cute, but the exclusion of fairies of color makes this a miss.

Adored the artwork. I would've gotten lost in the pages as a child.

Darling illustrations, but the verse is lackluster and didactic.
