Sadly this didn’t meet my expectations as a Kate Daniels series like reading experience.

Fantastic book! Well written, well paced and the plot is great.  The XXX scenes were incredibly written and well placed. All and all a hot read!

“It took a special kind of mental gymnastics to hate someone else because they’d done all the same terrible things you had.”

TL;DR: A woman struggles to support her community through education and food preservation. A man struggles to save his team as a plan obsolescence threatens to kill them.

Hmmmm, I enjoyed but I also had issues. It has a post apoplectic setting yet they didn't really seem to be struggling to survive. It's like that part was sometimes completely forgotten about (I.e. let's eat some peach pie when surely fresh fruit like that must have been crazy hard to come by).

The story moved and along and had deep exploration in the voice of each POV character. It's a remarkable story of lost and then regained trust in a fabulously dark future. Would have gone 5 stars if it weren't due to the very slight over-rehashing of POV character's feelings and goals.

I had a bit of a hard time keeping the guys straight at first and working through the 'memos' was a little tough. But I enjoyed the story a lot and the relationship(s) growth felt real and not insta-love which is nice.
