Story of Oliver and Summer

The more I read Lauren’s books, the more I love her writing style.

I came into Lauren’s backlist with one of her most recent books so I had to make my way back to the beginning as her characters are intermingled across different series.

Loved this story, it had some very funny parts, omg and I love Noah, please tell me he gets a book, that cheetah running man is gold!

Can’t wait to read Logan’s story next. Love a good single dad book

I love friends to lovers tales and this is classic Lauren Blakely at her best!

A wonderful story of two friends throughout their friendship both past and present. I absolutely adore stories that are woven together until it finally reaches the present pickle they are currently in.

Dear Sexy Ex is heartwarming and fun involving two friends, their dating lives that haven't exactly gone the greatest and the friendship that they have both relied upon to get them out of said horrible dating jams of the past. Neither want to screw up what they have in their friendship to cross that boundary with each other to even tempt fate, but when a fake relationship calls for more than just an hour or evening their feelings are put to test. Lines are blurred. Can they put the genie back in the bottle?

I always love reading Lauren Blakely, she never fails to put a smile on my face and especially now I need that more than ever!

How much fun is Summer's letter? Summer and Oliver are childhood friends who in adulthood have developed a deep friendship. So much so that they are each other's dates when needed. When Summer writes a letter with Oliver in mind for a contest in hopes of a windfall for her gym, it goes viral and now their lives are changing! Friends to lovers, these two have chemistry coming out in spades. It's so evident with their history how their feelings evolve, and it's a very warm and flirty feeling. Blakely has such a talent for writing feel good stories, and this one came at the best time. I especially loved the integration of social media and how the internet must be stopped! I was smiling knowing how true that can be! This one will make your heart sing and you will go an tweet about how much you loved it!

I can't say enough good things about the pick of the narration team for this story. Andi Arndt always finds her character and gives her the exact personality the author intends. I love her connection with the story. Shane East is just so swoonworthy as Oliver. He pulls out all the stops. And the cameos by Kit Swann and Joe Arden just enhance the performance. It's always good to hear them, and a treat when they pop in!

How do you survive 2 decades with the hottest British accented malebin existence as your best friend!?! No seriously, I o ly had a few hours with these two and I'm melting. Liquid puddle of lust and feels. How did Summer shut her aching, lusting heart down all those years with this amazing, kind, caring man!?! I believe she deserves an award, a stipend, and all the twisted sheets (sex, I mean sex) she can get.

Dear Sexy Ex Boyfriend is an absolute joy and heartwarming story. It's all kinds of sexy, fun, and real feels. oh did I mention the hot Brit!?! Yeah, it's definitely HOT in here!

Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend is the newest romantic comedy from one of my all-time favorite authors, Lauren Blakely. Summer and Oliver (Sexy Brit) have been best friends since high school while sharing many of life’s ups and downs. In the beginning I was curious as to how these two were exes yet they had not yet officially dated each other. Well, I was not disappointed in how it all came together because when I had my lightbulb moment Oliver (dislikes Ollie, BTW) and Summer had their lightbulb moment too. Actually, mine was a lot earlier than theirs. I love the banter between them and the lengths they go to, to help their best friend! It’s not a romantic comedy if the two lead characters can’t see what is so obvious to everyone else. Remember when I said sexy Brit? Yes, Oliver is from England (swoon just imagining that voice, mmmmmm). Oliver is an attorney who finds himself in a pickle with a new client because Summer wrote an essay about Oliver being her ex. Well, social media goes viral over them. The situations these two navigate are quite hilarious especially when you want to smack them to wake them up over the pure raw chemistry these two share. Can you imagine your man having a sexy british accent and being between the sheets with him? Can you say….set the sheets on fire??? Whoa, man Oliver is one sexy man and not in just the bedroom. He is smart, good looking, and so protective of the ones he loves. Summer is a smart, beautiful, sexy woman with the determination to open her own business on her own to the point of being stubborn that she will not accept financial help from loved ones. Maybe, she’ll change her mind? This is a fun summer read that will transport you to another world for a little while. I totally loved it for the great characters, fun writing style, hints of future stories to come, and an HEA. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 5 stars hands down!

Summer and Oliver were exactly what I needed today. The connection they had at the start of their story was only a small taste of what was to come with them.

The banter between was fun and made me giggle several times and I loved how they kept that same banter when their relationship moved beyond best friend/best friend’s little sister status. I absolutely adored these 2, the perfect amount of entertaining banter, giggles, steamy moments and feels.

I loved the secondary characters too and I’m really looking forward to Logan and Fitz’s stories.

Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend is the friends-to-lovers, fake engagement story that I never knew I needed (but definitely needed).

Lauren Blakely brings her signature wit and banter (oh, the banter) to the table in this delightful story, and the chemistry between Summer and Oliver is FIRE. I love the way their friendship blossoms, and I love that the angst is low. And I could see this story translating to film quite well.

Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend is a refreshing glass of lemonade on a hot summer day, and, especially given all that’s happening in the world right now, it’s just what I needed.

Sweet

This is a sweet, simple and straight forward romance - the kind that leaves you with a soft smile and a HEA you can cherish. It's the soft kind, with easily overcome drama and just the right amount of heat.

In a word? Charming.

I enjoyed the snark and wit tossed between characters, along with the building heat as realizations were made and decisions come to.

What I did not like? The apparent power of social media. I realize we live in the modern world and many big cities (and quite a few small ones) are inundated with the expectations and demands social media can press upon.... but for a private life to affect the very public one, not to mention a career? That is bothersome, and though this book seems to take it a step farther than normal, it also seems to be rather accurate. Ugh.

My Final Verdict on Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend

Sweet, contemporary and incredibly 'modern' - this is a feel good read that offers that soft romantic feeling and leaves you with a smile.
