I'm not generally one that goes outside of vampires in my paranormal reading, but I thought I'd give this one a try.  It wasn't all I was expecting, but it wasn't bad.

I was down with the dragon shifters but the fact that they were actually aliens who had escaped to Earth.  Even better was the fact that their alien nemesis' were on earth searching them out in an attempt to destroy them.  It gave the story a little-added twist.  But what kept me turning the pages on this one was our hero Jax.

Jax and his brother were raised with Tierney by her father after they escaped to earth.  Childhood friends, Jax and Tierney were always together, but when Jax was forced from Tierney's home to that of his father he came back to Tierney years later changed.  He knew he had feelings for Tierney (and vice versa) but he didn't think he was good enough for her...even if he knew that she was his soul mate.

Jax was the perfect angsty, tortured hero.  I loved him when he was pushing Tierney away because I knew how much it hurt him.  You knew who and what he wanted but he had a lot of emotional issues he needed to fight through in order to realize he could have what he wanted.

If you're a lover of paranormal shifter romances, DRACONES AWAKENING is one you want to check out.  For this reader, who doesn't normally go for this kind of story, I was left intrigued and want to see what happens next..especially with the alliance with the wolves.

I got bored reading the beginning so I didn't continue.

Boring. Repetitive. Every single chapter fMC asks about her father at least once, and the answer is always the same: "Nothing yet". Every f*cking chapter, sometimes more than once in each. I get it, she's worried, but what's the freaking point if there's nothing to add to that? Also, everytime we are in MMC's perspective, he's thinking how much he wants her but can't have her because of his "darkness". Over and over again. The “awakening” is supposed to be super dangerous and take forever, but it is like one chapter and it’s done. Nothing happens with that. And the abuse the MMC and his brother suffered is used as a plot device to cause angst but it's not treated well. The characters have nothing special, we’re just told they do, and I guess we have to believe the author? The wolf-guy (not a shifter, not a werewolf, though I couldn’t really say what’s different, anyway) is a Deus-ex machina device, he knows what to do just because he does. The part with Serena amounts to nothing, so why was it there? My guess is just to make the book longer. I think I saw this in an ad of one of those pay-per-chapter apps, so that would explain the incredible amount of filling and very little plot. Another thing is the poor editing. I just don’t want to continue, nothing in the story is interesting enough for me. 32% in, and still no dragons, so it’s a DNF.

First book by the author and I got the audiobook, it was good, I really enjoyed Tierny and Jax, this magic world got me hooked, filled with lots of action, adventure, and steam. I got a lot of twists and turns that had me hearing the audiobook none stop. The narration by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel was brilliant, I really enjoyed the audio and loved the way they portrayed their characters. Definitely looking out for more. Brilliant dragon story!

I loved this book and will definitely be reading the next two. There were a lot of obvious typos that should be fixed but didn't affect the story.

I enjoyed this Paranormal story where there are Dracones (dragons), Fallen Angels. Wolves and so much more that are all living in hiding from an evil that is hell bent on destroying everything and anything paranormal. However those that are captured are living in fear and a fate worse than death. This story is a dark and twisted tale that is filled with magic and drama, love and torment, twists and turns that entices you right to the very end.

What happens when you know your other half, your soul mate but he feels he is too dark and twisted and not worthy of you and to be by your side? How much more can you take when he keeps pushing you away?

I so look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Warning: Graphic depictions of torture, rape, and abuse along with a heavy sexual theme. Not for the faint-hearted or anyone under the age of 17-18 (in my humble opinion).

So this book was phenomenal, but at the same time I kinda disliked it. The writing style captivated me. It was not a YA novel in any sense. Hard-core adult in nature, Sheri-Lynn brings you into the world of the Dracones. They are a race of dragon beings that are hunted by the Ilyium. That is all of the plot I shall describe, simply because the rest needs to be read in it's entirety.

Though her writing style kept me reading, there were so many themes of abuse. I understood some of it... but after a while, it seemed like every character was going to be raped, tortured, etc. or had already been. I do not believe that there needed to be so much of that. Some of it was reiterated as characters discovered these horrible actions, but it was a constant theme.

However, that is the only off-putting part of this novel. Unless you don't like major sexual tension and graphic sex scenes. Because it seriously got raunchy at the end-although it took a while to come. Haha sex joke... I'll see myself out.

I digress... as I mentioned earlier, Sheri-Lynn is not a YA writer. This allows for her to create fully formed adult characters that you can connect with. Though they are magical in nature, they are also still trying to grow into who they are. The reader is able to create beings you either care about, or that you simply loathe. And yes, there are several loath-able characters.

Overall, it was a fantastic read. Rather intrigued about what the next book will hold.

I really enjoyed this fantasy book. The characters are very well developed. They have struggles. They have wins. I cannot wait to find out more, and follow their lives. Things could definitely change. Become very tense. Sheri-Lynn has certainly set us up to be disappointed, surprised, but hopefully happy, and satisfied!

Too slow moving to start and convoluted. Couldn't get into it and gave up a quarter of the way through.
