I was really excited for this book because I have enjoyed a lot of Stevenson's work in the past, but I feel a bit underwhelmed with this book. I was hoping for more new material than what we got. The art is good though.

A wonderful memoir about ND Stevenson's journey in life and in art, creating comics and being an artist. I think a lot of this was originally published on Tumblr, but I hadn't read it before, so I thoroughly enjoyed it! Especially with all of the success Nimona saw in the last year.

A simple but moving graphic memoir by ND Stevenson, spanning 8 years starting in the beginning of his creative career. We follow him through his identity and mental health struggles, which he outlines in a vulnerable and very relatable way. Before starting this, I didn't know he worked on one of my favourite animated shows, Shera, so it was a nice surprise to see that connection.

Fascinating to read ND’s memoir from pre-transition after having read his OTHER memoir about gender identity. A reminder that self-understanding and self-expression isn’t static, and journeys are as valid as any theoretical “destination.”
Also, today I learned that Nate is married to Molly Knox Ostertag and 😱!!

I needed this so much right now. Sometimes it’s just good to know that you’re not alone in this. That other people feel the same things you do. That other people (more successful people!) had stories so similar to yours.
I cried a couple times while reading this. But it was good.
