A wonderful memoir about ND Stevenson's journey in life and in art, creating comics and being an artist. I think a lot of this was originally published on Tumblr, but I hadn't read it before, so I thoroughly enjoyed it! Especially with all of the success Nimona saw in the last year.

I've been following Nate's substack for years. After I found out that this book exists I was curious to see if his old personal comics would also strike a chord with me and they did. 
I think for any fan of Nate's work who is struggling with their mental health this book will have at least some relatable comics.

I already loved Nate Stevenson but this made me love him even more. I'm officially a fangirl.
It's fascinating to read his cheerful little year-in-review letters juxtaposed with disturbing little comics showing how he actually feels. At the end, when it all comes to a head and he decides to be fully honest - it's viscerally cathartic. There's a photo at the end of him and his wife on their wedding day, and they look so joyful that it made me tear up.
At times, the printing quality makes it difficult to read his handwritten captions, but that's the publisher's fault, not Nate's.

N D Stevenson is a writer I've enjoyed for a few years. I followed them on Twitter for a year before I read and loved Nimona. This illustrated memoir is a raw and beautiful depiction of what it's like to live with the fear of disappointing the people around you always at the forefront of your mind. The pressure of their life and work putting them in the public eye at such a young age, and the pressure of trying to live up to the standards they'd set for themself is conveyed in a way that's relatable. The art is beautiful and the writing is clear and conversational.
