It seemed to take forever and a day for me to complete this book. I'm not sure if it was the book or if it was me, but geesh, this one move slowly. Frankly, I was quite bored throughout most of the book.

Fortunately, about half-way, the pace started to pick up. Still, the story did not becoming interesting until last fourth of the book. Until this point, I lost interest in the characters; did not care much for them. Fortunately, due to the increased pace and a plot line that finally became interesting, I did once again find interest in the characters and renewed my liking of all them. And, I am also happy to report that there were some intriguing and important plot twists. Whew!

I am once again pumped up to read the last book to see how this series tidies up. But I do have reservations, I hope The Raven King will live up to its hype.

I don't really know why I didn't like this one as much as the others. I think it was because some parts just came out of nowhere. There were parts that the author talked about something that I didn't even recall. Overall, it was yet another faNTASTIC addition to an amazing series. I'M HYPED.

My least favourite of the three trc-books out so far- it's not saying much since the love I have for this series is incredible. The sleeping king continues to haunt our dear, eccentric darlings. Tragedy comes and goes and strikes. I didn't like the new characters much and I found it a little gross that the Gray Man- no matter how interesting he is- got to stay and K had to burn out with nobody to mourn or miss him- he was only seventeen, he was what Ronan could have been without his friends there to ground him. Kavinsky deserved better than to have nobody be sad that this self-destructive boy never got the help he needed. I get that Gansey's gang wouldn't necessarily miss him but it would be nice to mentioned, to be remembered.

In other words, the relationship between Adam and Ronan continues to deepen, Gansey takes further step to a path where nobody can follow and Blue tries her hardest to live in a world that wants to take everything from her- like the boy she claimed she would never love. And Noah, ghostly little Noah. ;_;

If The Raven Boys was too slowpaced at points, this felt a little too fast. ANd I think THe Raven Cycle works the best when it takes its time to set the atmosphere, to remind us that we're all like ravens, the things that other beings dream about. You could claim that Stiefvater's dialogue is too hipster-y, too dreamy but in a cynical world of today I want to read about characters who believe in the power of dreams and human minds and sleeping Welsh kings. I want to believe in these people, these lonely teenagers who find a family, comfort, friendship, love with each other.
