I should probably just come to terms with the fact that I'm not going to finish this boo. As important as the topic is, and as funny as Trevor Noah is, it's not the story I'm looking for right now. I just don't think I like comedian's memoirs, they're never that interesting to me

This is one of the most impactful memoirs I’ve read.
Trevor Noah grew up during Apartheid, a time when children of mixed relationships were illegal, so his birth was literally a crime.
As he recounts experiences from his childhood and teen years, he does not shy away from how the institutional racism, the oppressive government, and an abusive stepfather shaped his world. Noah writes of pretty awful things with humor and warmth and honesty that kept me hooked. And I loved getting to know his mom, whose faith in God and complete disregard for laws and other people’s opinions drove him crazy while he was growing up.
Listen to the audiobook if you can... his narration makes the experience even more powerful.
Highly recommended for teens and adults.

Trevor is smart and funny and I loved reading about his childhood in South Africa, his observations about race, and his relationship with his mother. His delivery in this book is much like his delivery on The Daily Show. Entertaining read - i heard recently that it will be turned into a movie and that he will be writing another book, which i look forward to reading!

such a gorgeously written book; time flew as i read it. its arrangement is pretty haphazard but it all ties together in the end. his story is so unbelievable that it's incredibly memorable.

Educational informative, especially related to racism, apartheid and privilege and poverty in South Africa. I struggled with some of the morality and lack of regret, but also recognize I didn’t grow up in the same environment and had many more privileges available.
