"I don’t believe this was ever a happy house. I don’t believe anybody was ever happy in it, in spite of all the money they spent and the things they had."

I always enjoy a Miss Marple, and this one was no exception. It's full of interesting, well-fleshed-out characters and the awful-rich-English-people vibes are just immaculate. This one also packs more of an emotional punch (or did for me, anyway) than some of the others, but is still fun and compelling and cleverly-done. I will say that, even though I didn't work out what was going on, I didn't feel as entirely shocked by the eventual reveals as I have done in some of the previous books in the series, but I still enjoyed the reading experience and it gets extra points for how much it hit me in the feels too.

I was in a reading slump and I really didn't feel like reading this. But since I picked this from the library I had to give it back soon so I read it. It was so much fun. It's accessible, so easy to read and it's such a cosy murder mystery.  I love trying to figure out the murderer it's especially great when it makes sense. Even though I didn't guess correctly looking back at it there were definitely signs that I missed.

An enjoyable Miss Marple book! I haven't read this one before, so the story was all new to me. I enjoyed how she wove the nursery rhyme into the story and had it not be a straight shot to the killer. Enjoyable and I'm starting to like the Marple books more.
