An explosive start to the prequel of Cherub. Exciting, intense and with a pinch of history makes this a great read.

When you read this book, you feel like you are reading a story that really happened. Muchamore explores the historic facts around the fictional storyline, like a pro.

I've read this book twice now and I still really enjoy it. It's exciting, action-packed with a very interesting story. The highlight for me is definitely the relationship between Marc and Henderson. I like how they bonded throughout the book and how they grew to care for each other.

If you liked the CHERUB series, this is a really interesting way of continuing it.

I was intrigued to read about the beginning of the group that will become Cherub. The reading level here is beginning teen but the maturity level may be higher for some given the description of the war & orphanage violence. The characters were well developed, I felt like the story moved along quite well, and the settings were described well when necessary. Map in the end pages was handy.

It was an enjoyable read but I’m not sure I will read the entire series. This is NOT a reflection on my interest in the books. I only wish I could just absorb them like a sponge and get to the end versus sitting and reading them … I need to move on so I can recommend more & different books to my patrons!

An amazing book, and it gives you a good information about why Cherub started.

The first in a new series from the author of the much-loved Cherub books. Definitely for an older reader than the latter, with deadlier violence and fairly graphic depiction of the brutality of war.
