the play is filled with 3 unlikeable young adults trying to figure out what they want out of their life in a miserable 48 hour span

I read this on a whim. Some classmates did a scene from this, so I was curious about the rest of the play.

I didn't really need to be. The scene they did (the second one between Warren and Jessica) was pretty much the best part. I don't know if it's just not for me or if it doesn't work anymore or if I'm all played out. I was very "meh" through the whole thing. I didn't really care what happened.

I wouldn't recommend this unless someone needed a young male/female scene. Or young male/male scene, though I don't care for Dennis as a character.

A bleak look at the youth of the 1980s yet the writing feels like it could be about the youth of the 2000s which is the sign of good timeless writing.

I can see why this play has received so much acclaim. It is a true slice of life piece about two young men from privilege that have toxic families and relationships. A heartbreaking look at people that want to reach one another and love one another but just don’t know how. The ending is a little bit abrupt but not super unsurprising given the nature of the show.

manhattan-raised rich white kids who do drugs, steal money, and face no real consequences during reagan's america. i actually really liked this? i felt it perfectly captured the gen x brand of cynicism. not much happens (it spans only 48 hours) but also so much happens – amended: enough happens that the plot moves but it doesn't feel overambitious. also, michael cera played the main character in a 2014 stage adaptation. (i didn't watch it but i could not unhear his voice when reading the lines.)
