Another collection of great stories from one of the best modern authors in horror. There's a lot of excellent, chilling reads in here, but the title story is my favourite. A genuinely creepy ghost story, and the longest story here, After The People Lights Have Gone Off alone is enough for me to recommend this collection.

These stories are very creepy and I liked the varied ideas and tropes.  This is purely personal preference, but I enjoy more embroidered prose and atmosphere.  The style was a bit spare for me, even though it was perfect for the stories and was very effective.

Between a 3 and a 4 average wise, but not enough 5s to bump it to a 4 if that makes sense?

Overall, a solid collection and a good place to start if you want to know more about what Stephen Graham Jones has to offer.

Welcome to the Lizard House has been sitting with me for weeks now, I love his writing but also hate how all that spooky writing climbs in your head and doesn't clear out. Truly banger after banger.

I'm not sure I'd even classify this as horror. These horror stories weren't terribly horrific. Atmosphere is brushed aside. The author uses common tropes and doesn't add much originality. Meh.

Phenomenal writing, as usual. Very spooky. I don't know that short stories are really my thing, but these were pretty good.
