Ben Danvers had worked hard on his family’s orchard for years and even through the pain of losing his grandfather, who served as a surrogate father after his own parents passed away when he was young, Ben has been plugging along. What he wasn’t expecting was his grandfather to include a caveat in his will that Ben must marry within months of his death otherwise the orchard will be sold. With no prospects in sight Ben’s coming to the realization that he’s going to lose everything he’s ever dreamed of. Clarissa Carson is an employee who has worked for the orchard for years but has kept her head down and did her job. She hasn’t had very many dreams for herself but does want a child to share all her love. Ben’s dilemma becomes the perfect solution, he gets the marriage he needs and she gets the baby she desires.

This was a sweet novel. Because it’s a romance it does have a predictable ending but that’s why I love romance. I would consider this more of a light romance, not a lot conflict, not a lot of suspense, but there is good build and development in the characters and the story line. I also enjoyed Ben’s aunt, she included the comic relief. A good read if you’re looking for a light, sweet romance.

This is the first Donna Fasano book I have read but it won't be the last as I love her writing. She manages to get so much depth and feeling into the novella 'Wife For A While'. She makes the trauma and lasting effects of emotional abuse real rather than glossing over them. I really enjoyed reading Chelsea's journey to recovery, and about the patience and support of Ben while they worked together to save Ben's orchard.

Well I had the plot figured out by the first two pages but I still really liked this book. I loved how Ben was so kind and loving. It did get a little PG-13 ish but I was glad it wasn't too descriptive. Little language too. I did like the story though and was glad it ended how I knew it would.

I do generally like these marriage of convenience stories, and I did like this story to an extent. I would probably have given it 4 stars except for Chelsea. I get that she had a rough childhood but she was too much of a 'Debbie downer'. The one thing I can't stand in any character is their belief that they're some kind of omnipotent empath. I found myself skimming through some of Chelsea's parts, it was just so negative.
I really liked Ben, he was a sweetheart. He had the patience of a saint. And Aunt May was hilarious.

A sweet marriage of convenience story. Ben needs to get married, and soon, if he wants to keep the family business. All Chelsea wants is a baby. She figures she can help Ben and she can get what she wants. Of course, nothing is ever so straightforward. Chelsea has issues in her past that keep her from getting close to anyone, but Ben isn't making it easy to keep her distance. A sweet romance.

Chelsea marries Ben to save his orchard. In return he must give her a baby. No love or feelings were to be involved but the more time they spent together the more the feelings came out.

Marriage of convenience plot with grandfather's will demanding the hero marry to get his inheritance. Short and kind of average for a romance.
