Amazing series. You have to sort of forget about the show, as there are a lot of different things. Think of them as different worlds just with the same character. Because the books and the show are two entirely different things. Once you start to accept this it turns out to be a great series! I have heard so many people complaining about how the TV show is "better" and has "better developed characters." I disagree. Yes, the plot lines might be a little different, but this doesn't mean the plot lines aren't fascinating enough to make you stay up all night reading the series. As for the characters not being well developed, I strongly disagree. These are the best developed characters I have seen in a very long time. They're not perfect, but they're not horrid. I mean, sometimes they might be frustrating, but in three books we watch them learn and grow from their mistakes. I find the fact that they're juvenile delinquents very interesting. Kass could've chosen normal people to be on the first dropship. But she didn't. Why? We may never know. But it was much more interesting to read about the "outcasts" in the books, and see that they may not be so bad after all. (SPOILER HERE) A good example of this is how when all of those people came down they weren't handling things right. Especially not Rhodes. But The 100 formed a community of love and kindness. While surviving. (SPOILER END) Each of the hundred had a story about how they broke the rules. Some probably murdered. But they weren't bad people at all. They just did bad things, or maybe the Council sent them away for something pointless, or something they really weren't involved with. Anyway, a community was definitely built.
