So cool. I love Gar—his wit and charisma are adorable, as well as the green streak in his hair. I read it in one day from start to finish. The art is incredible, and the story is so fast-paced. It’s a little improbable at times, but it all tracks. I really appreciated Gar’s deviation from the normal cliché of the suddenly-popular person dumping all their previous friends. Stella and Tank are so cool. The author gave them some nice character depth, which is hard to accomplish in so few pages. The transformation sequences are so well-constructed, and just the green, I love green and when it’s painted onto a boy transformed into a wolf, it’s even better. I think everyone (including myself) can relate to Gar’s frustration with his stagnant growth, and his very drastic shapeshifter-puberty changes. His relationship with his parents is interesting, especially in relation to H.I.V.E. and the virus in Sierra Leone. I really want to see more of Beast Boy, especially with his relationship with the other Titans. His Bildungsroman arc was very well-constructed, learning to understand what “his thing” is, what his potential is. Beast Boy really unleashed the beast in this captivating origin story. Unleash the green!
