Good Short Story
This short story was a gripping tale from the beginning and carried you straight through to the end. I really didn’t predict the ending that it had. Good short story!

Had the potential to be great. left me wondering if it would have been a better novel then short story. seemed the writer took the short way out and left the reader bummed. well at least this reader was bummed.

I'll be honest and say that I read this book by accident. I was, in fact, looking for a book of the same name that a friend had recommended to me (which I still haven't found) and innocently downloaded the free book before setting to work reading my way through the meaty 13 pages. My disappoint has probably been increased by the fact that this was not what I was looking for but I'm not sure I have much to say about it.
A lot of it was cheesy, a lot of it made my face crumple in discomfort and other lines just made me cringe like hell. I mean, there were lines like:
And I think it was those cheesy lines that brought the short story down. A little more language use and we'd be onto something.
The storyline could have also been thickened out a little bit. I mean obviously, it's a short story, but it doesn't excuse rushing through everything like you are being chased by your mother's ghost does it? There needed more tension building and I think that thickening out the first part of the story would have aided this perfectly.

It's an ok story. Idea is nice and is well written. But it didn't really grab me hard.

That was weird
If your bored and are into weird 'scary' stories this is your type of book if your wanting a short read.

I loved the feel of this book, and the story line was even decent, but the writing was pretty bad. I felt like I was reading a lot of repetition and I could feel Brown trying to squeeze an insignificant detail into every sentence.
Heather is sent into the towns notorious haunted house where a man killed his wife and himself. Her friends bet her that she can't go all the way into the basement of the house. Of course she has to prove them wrong, in true horror story fashion, and she goes. She then starts having flash backs of her mother whom died a year earlier, at Heather's hand, accidentally. They were arguing and Heather went to yank her arm out of her mother's hand, and her mother fell down the stairs to her death.
So, Heather is seeing an old decrepit version of her mother and she is getting increasingly angry. Heather thinks she goes away and right before she gets to the front door, the ghost of her mother rips her heart out and she dies.
