I loved it! I found so many authors in this collection of short stories that I wanted to read more of!

What I really took away from this book was the importance of strong characterisation in writing. The first one by David Mitchell was my favourite. If you enjoy short stories, check it out!

i started this prior to born standing up and sped through, loving it unabashedly, until perkus tooth. i hit the typical 90% completion standstill i often hit with short story anthologies and almost gave up. i enjoyed them all for the way in which they were told - all slowly unspooled details until i was so caught up in it without any idea of how it'd happened.
of course i loved the stuff by dave eggers, zadie smith, chris ware and miranda july, but you expect that going in. my favorite was by someone i hadn't read before - edwidge danticant's lele.

This book was really hit or miss. There were some great stories, some mediocre, and some that were just crap. Overall though, it was worth reading.

I enjoyed it quite a lot, more than I'd expected. Zadie Smith and Colm Toibin were particularly good, but I also enjoyed Adam Thirlwell, Miranda July, A. M. Homes and Jonathan Lethem.
I did not like the stories by Hari Kunzru and David Mitchell - they felt gimmicky and cruel.
