This is the companion book to Starr Meade’s Mighty Acts of God, which I also had the chance and pleasure to review back in 2010. Wondrous Works of God is a collection of 90 more Bible stories that begin at Creation and go through Revelation – each chapter gives a title and corresponding Scripture reference so those that desire a more in depth study can do so or those with older children. At the end of the reading is a section called “as for me and my house…” which are questions or thoughts to consider relating back to the reading, some are good for older children while others are geared toward the younger age range and again, some are good for all ages.

The beautiful hardcover book is illustrated by Tim O’Connor (he also illustrated Mighty Acts of God) and the pictures help to keep the youngest child engaged while aiding in the imagination of all who read these stories, making them come alive. A delightful way to begin a school day in the home, as a daily devotion time, bed time story or just a nice, interesting way to bring the Word of God alive to children, in their language. One thing I loved about this book is that any Christian denomination can use it to bring their families closer to God and that there are no literary licenses taken with the Biblical accounts re-told by Starr Meade.
