2019-It was good. But nothing is better than the movie.
I had to sing the songs myself when I was reading.

2020- Needed this again!

2021- Halloween!

Pretty much the movie but in a shortened book form. Wasn’t bad. Seemed rushed though.

This copy was provided by Netgalley and Tokyopop in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn't blown away by this manga. It's the first I read, and although the art was pretty it didn't follow it's own story. I stuck to the movie and that made reading it a bit boring. The art would also be prettier with a little colour.

Stays very close to the source material and has some nice art, but adds nothing spectacular to really justify it if you've already seen the film.

I love Jack Skellington, I really do, and everything related to him!

I enjoyed the movie, it was awesome, but this one didn't do. I found the events to be dull, it seemed kinda empty..

And Sally, OH MY GOD, Sally, she ruined it all for me, with her passivity and whining and lord she was depressing!! (same feeling in the movie)

But instead of shaking Jack and make him understand, no, this will do:

When I bought this, I didn't realize it was a manga. I mean, I knew it wasn't a traditional book, but I thought it was more like the classic American graphic novels. That, of course, didn't change my enjoyment of the book. It just put it in a medium I wasn't used to (like turning the pages backwards).

Anyway, if you're familiar with the classic story of Jack and Sally, of Halloween Town and Christmas Town, then none of this will be new or surprising to you. You won't get anything new out of this than if you watched the film for the fiftieth time. BUT, it's a fun illustrated version of the film that hits the spot when you want to enjoy the film in a different medium. If you're an avid fan like me, it probably doesn't matter what form it takes; you'll enjoy the story in any which way it's presented.
