This was a book series that I started to read when I was a child and after re reading it I am happy to say that it is one I would still read. I find many of the turns predictable but that was part of the charm and the fact that I felt hope while reading the series really warmed my heart.

such a delightful easy to read series. still don't quite know why all the magical abilities on the evil side of the red king family can't overcome the less powerful, if cleverly used, abilities the good side has, but it is a children's book after all. love jenny nimmo and the charlie bone series, it's the superior harry potter experience

I really enjoyed this book. It may be my favorite in the series so far. I like how so much of Charlie’s support network is taken away and he has to do things himself for most of the book, and I like how there are so many pieces of this book which all come together. Looking forward to the next installment in Charlie and his friends’ adventures.

2018 - Book #17 of 100 : I've been re-reading "The Children of the Red King Series." I loved these books when I was a teenager, but as an adult, I'm struggling with some of the characters and the lack of backbone 90% of the "good" adults have.

Picked it up because it reminded me of Harry Potter. Finished the series because it was its own story and a very good one at that.

I really enjoyed reading about the blue boa and Charlie's adventures, and again I noticed the characters didn't give much thought about anything they were going to do, but I was able to overlook it and continue reading.
