Brittney recounts her life, career, and the control she suffered under her father's control during her conservatorship. While I'm so glad Brittney is able to speak her truth and get her side of the story out there, something just felt lacking to me. It wasn't as introspective as I'm Glad My Mom Died or Spare. Similar to Paris Hilton's memoir, it reads very much like a woman setting the record straight. But unlike Paris, Brittney hasn't had time and distance to really begin the healing process, since this book was written and released within a year of the conservatorship ending. I'd like to see her thoughts on everything in a few years after the dust has settled and the wounds have closed.

I have read some of the reviews, and understand that people who usually read memoirs have their educated opinions about Britney's memoir feeling like a girl's dairy or just generally unpolished. I, as someone who does not often read memoirs, thought that the writing style had some pros and some cons. The pros being the casual conversation feel of the whole book that made me feel that this was truly Britney speaking to us (some say her social medias are still highly controlled, I personally do not believe that), and the cons being the numerous jumps and time skips that were not warned about or acknowledged while I was reading. The time-skips were quite an annoyance at times because as someone who has kept up with the Free Britney Movement since summer of 2022, I felt that some details we uncovered that were crucial to the movement were not mentioned from Britney's perspective. I would have loved to seen more of Britney's version/feelings toward specific things we had uncovered about her case. In the end, this is definitely her way of saying FU to everyone who had wronged her through books, interviews, and documentaries. I am proud of her for just that.

This five star rating is a huge surprise to me. I didn’t know anything much about her aside from the tabloid headlines (never listened to her music). Really glad u read this book. She’s overcome a lot. I probably would’ve crumbled. Made me proud of her and also inspired me to be clearer about my priorities and boundaries. I hope the world will leave her alone and let her be, and I hope her parents, sister, and Kevin all experience very painful and elongated suffering.

Reading the experiences that Britney Spears went through left me with so much anger, sadness, and frustration for her. It is disgusting how the institutions we have in place, that are supposed to help and keep us safe, are constantly and consistently failing us. There are many heartless people in this world who should die, but death is a kind mercy they do not deserve.

There are many complaints on the writing in this memoir, which is just focusing on the wrong thing imo, but the narrative tone of voice just sounded very young to me. I found this to be very fitting given the trauma she experienced, specifically in the sense of how trauma effects you neurologically, and it helps you understand just how young she was going through all this.

This poor woman. If you are in any way a Britney Spears fan, and even if you're not, this is important to read. She is literally treated like the protagonist of THE YELLOW WALLPAPER. If we lock her up, we can do whatever we want. Heartbreaking.

This was a great read. I highly recommend to anyone that’s a fan, or even if you’re not! Brittany tells her personal story regarding her life and conservatorship. I think her story can help others in similar situations in the future.
