I have not read many of Steinbeck’s books before and this was my first time reading it but wow! Wonderfully written and very enjoyable. Though it seemed to be about nothing, it also was about everything. I loved the description of the characters and how they all fit into this community together.

A delightfully told tale of life in Cannery Row. I especially enjoyed the parts which were included in one of my favorite movies of the same title. Looking forward reading the rest of the story in Steinbeck's Sweet Thursday!

Look I love people watching and I love Steinbeck, but this needed way more meat on the bones to be a compelling and enjoyable novel.
