Introduction
I was given a copy of the trilogy to review for a book tour by Love Book Tours. My reviews are always honest and all opinions are my own. I will always try to avoid spoilers in all reviews as well. #TheBrittleRiders #BillMcCormick #LoveBookTours #LBTCrew #AD #BookReview

Review
The Brittle Riders Trilogy was a brilliant, lengthy read that is reminiscent of the epic fantasy and scifi sagas of the 80s and 90s. If you plan to delve into this epic be prepared. It is lengthy, well put together and heavy at parts with world building and story but all that makes it brilliant. Brittle Riders begins with a man hosting a party, such a good party that it culminated in the death of all humanity. But it does not focus on that man, rather it focuses on what happens next and how those left behind survive.

In book one we learn of Edward Q Rohta was a brilliant scientist who decided to use that brilliance to create multiple species to be slave labour. Eventually the abuse of their ‘masters’ was too much and the slaves revolted. After the death of every man, woman and child on the planet, well things started to get a little weird. In Book two the heroes we met in book one find themselves joined by new allies while facing frightening new enemies. But no matter the winner the result may be genocide. In book three something is still living, something that could render Arreti a wasteland. The final threat that is making for world domination. Will the heroes but saved or will it be too late?

If you enjoy epic fantasy or science fiction this is a series for you. It is actually hard to fit The Brittle Riders into a genre since it covers a multitude, fantasy, sci-fi, dystopian/apocalyptic, horror and so much more but if you like any of those you are sure to enjoy. The first book is a little heavy with world building, I did find the appendix extremely helpful and as a fan of epic fantasy it was something I am used to it, I do apricate it might put some people off but I promise it is worth powering through it.

The world building and writing is brilliant. I was really engaged with the world McCormick creates and the creatures that inhabit now. Admittedly, as McCormick states, the original draft was penned in the 80s so some of the style is reminiscent of the style back then but it doesn’t take away any enjoyment. The heroes are each unique and I enjoyed following their adventure. It was nice to see a bunch of heroes that are more like a Dungeons and Dragons group and less perfectly moulded to fit in the story.

If you like all these things you are sure to enjoy the Brittle Riders. I really couldn’t put it down and powered through it.

This is such an excellent series! Imagine Orson Scott Card with the comedic affect of Douglas Adams. This series takes the idea of alien races and the invention of a workforce for free and then slaps apocalypse and a humorous retaliation into the mix. It was hilarious, but still had the serious nature needed to make it exciting.
The series is packed with details, which is brilliant with the races and species you need to get to know. It also has excellent world building, which continues to grow and evolve throughout the aeries.
I loved the characters and the variety of personalities we had within the series. It was much needed, to give us a well rounded cast, which was done so well and carried throughout the series.
Overall, I was very impressed and needed a series like this to truly dove into and enjoy.
