Camille is realizing that her late husband emotionally manipulated and sexually abused her. No abuse is described, however her inner monologue is very candid and honest as she processes her trauma and works through it with Jacob. All of the sexual content involving him is very consensual and he’s always aware of her reactions and triggers.

After devouring the first three books in this series, I was so excited for this one. I love this author and I had such high hopes. Unfortunately, this one just kind of missed the mark. It wasn’t as swoony as the first three, and at times felt a little rushed. I enjoyed the way the FMC was able to face and work through her trauma, and I appreciated the references to the early suffragette movement. Unfortunately, the love story just fell flat.

One of my most anticipated reads of the year!
After learning that this book wasn’t planned, it makes me appreciate this story that much more. Camille deserved the happy ending that she got and I’m so happy that Jacob Thorne was the man to help her heal from her past abusive marriage. The care and gentleness he had with her honestly gave so the warm fuzzies. This book is filled with raw emotion as Camille tries to reclaim her past sexual experiences and turn them into something beautiful. Couldn’t recommend this series enough!
