Another solid collection by Peter Bell, dealing, as is evident by the title (and also from the author's forward), with hauntings. Half of the stories stood out for me, namely:
- The Bothy (in which we visit a snowy Scotland wilderness, which locale Bell evokes so vividly)
- Reunion (a decadent and highly weird story set in rural Germany. The book's scariest)
- Ragnarok (the imagery here is Lovecraftian and extremely effective)
- The Swing (nice little story about a haunted photograph)
- The Protrait (I'm sure I've reread this story about the portrait of a lady in a mansion turned museum. Nice anti-commercial spirit)
- The Crucifix (Probably the best of the bunch, novella-length, will more than satisfy book collectors)
