Another hit by one of my favorite authors. I love that with every story she writes representation is always at the forefront whether its mental health, disabilities (physical or invisible), LGBTQ+, etc.

I loved the characters is this book and was delighted to see that were characters I had been introduced to in Next of Kin. The moments of anxiety and grief were very relatable and I caught myself tearing up more than once while reading.

There was more spice in this book compared to the others she has written, but I still loved it and the main characters. This was 4.5 stars for me and I'll try my best to be patient as I wait for her next book to come out.

I loved the first in this series, Next Of Kin, so I was so excited that this audio became available. Matt and Lane share a kiss at their mutual friends’ party and then become friends. Sharing movie, music, and book recommendations. When Lane decides to buy a school bus to convert into a home, Matt offers to help if she works on his mechanic shop’s marketing. The chemistry between them continues to grow. Matt has clearly been in love with her and will do anything for her. There is a friends with benefits arrangement and a road trip to Lane’s sister’s wedding. All the while Lane is struggling with the loss of her parent many years ago. She doesn’t think she can be happily in love. Matt was patient and so sweet until Lane got herself together.

I wish we would have gotten Matt’s perspective. I was also missing some of the magic from the first book. I felt like Lane was constantly breaking Matt’s heart. The spicy scenes were well written. I did feel the connection between the characters.

Overall, this was a great read!

I got exactly 50% through and I just had to stop. It’s not worth forcing myself to finish. They already seem happy and so much has already happened and I’m not invested enough in the characters to continue going with another 200 pages of that. I’m sure there will be a third act breakup or something. Also, I feel like the characters had no personality. I did have fun for like the first 30% though :)
