Feels like this short story is actually a teaser for a full novel or even a series of novels. So far there's close to no SciFi or Fantasy in it and the world building is only just beginning.
So far not bad, except for a lack of content notes, but... Where is the rest of the story?

A beautifully written short story focused on the convergence of Issaka, a young man from Timbouctou returning from his studies in America to visit his family, and Faro, a genie who is released from an ancient book when Al-Qaeda burn the library near Issaka's family's house. With a short story it is hard to say much without spoiling -- I wish this was longer, and hope that it's the beginning of a longer work.

This felt like more of an introduction than a story, but I was intrigued by the ideas. I also thought that Okorafor was great at painting a picture of this city and the devastation that terrorism can bring to a place. I would definitely continue reading a novel if one were to come from this.

Definitely better than the first story in this collection, but I won't remember it for long.. It was fine, and I think this set-up could be very intriguing in a longer format with more time for world-building.
