L'explosion n'aura pas lieu aujourd'hui. Il est trop tôt... ou trop tard. Je n'arrive point armé de vérités décisives.Je suis en conflit avec moi-même. D'un côté, nous avons devant nous un texte incroyablement important et influent, qui dénonce le racisme, le colonialisme, l'impérialisme et l'état général de la société, et ce de manière absolument puissante et incisive ; et pourtant, d'un autre côté, ce texte — publié au début des années cinquante ! — est, triste à dire, en grande partie un produit de son temps. Fanon, dans ce texte, est indéniablement misogyne. De plus, il est indéniablement homophobe. Décevant, sans doute oui ; cas de rupture, peut-être non. À mon avis, il faut plus étudier Fanon que l'écouter. Indéniablement erronées étaient ses idées et ses théories, c'est vrai : mais en outre, cruciales. Donc comment concilier ces idées contradictoires ? Ah... ne me demandez pas ; je n'y connais rien du tout !

this book should come with its own reading list. also lots of homophobia and misogyny (where are the Black women?), which the sometimes genuinely poetic and moving observations on what it means to occupy a Black body in a white society don't quite make up for.

While I disagree with the Critical Race Theory's segregating tendencies (which I sometimes interpret as running parallel to the colonial mindset and promoting the idea of hierarchy between non-white races), Fanon's contribution to it is toward unification and dealing with the psychologically inbuilt racism in the prosperity of colonised nations and races. I basically agree with everything he writes. And his writing is also very fluid, to the point and easy to grasp.

While I enjoy a good diatribe, this was too steeped in Freudian nonsense and misogyny for me to take it seriously.
Still a very relevant and necessary text, though it deserves some of the critiques feminists have written since it's conception.
