I listened to the Full Cast Audio version of this and it was very enjoyable. It was lighter than anything I have read by George MacDonald thus far.

There is a little punning here that is fun for people who are just learning about word play.

Another one I thought I wrote a review for. Hmm... This story was good. It sounds like a fairy tale and it was entertaining and short. I'm really annoyed by how shallow the girl was, but she sort of got better in the end. So that was good.

illustrations by sendak are just beautiful
and the story is great fun, especially to read aloud - truly interesting to kids of widely different ages. plus it has a wealth of great vocabulary.

Rather long for a fairytale but very sweet. I loved the "light" puns, how many different things you can put into one word. The princess was a bit arrogant but learned how to be a nice girl at the end of course. What really amused me were the songs the prince (= the audiobook reader) sang.

A sweet story with more depth than first meets the eye. Enjoyed the audio for this!
