Love this book! Loving this series and everything! One thing though is the relationship with Arlo. I don’t think that was necessary in my opinion it felt forced. Fevers whole personality is that she finds love irrational and then she fell in love with some random boy. Not to mention he’s early 20’s and she’s 16 yikes….

I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars if I could; just don't know if I liked it so much as 4 stars. But I did enjoy it. The first book was fascinating, and then this one was fascinating but just not in the same way. The story seemed to just take a whole other road in this book. So I'll be interested to see what Reeve does with the next one.

The world building in this series seems so simple, so natural, I'm always surprised to look up and realize I don't live on a land barge. I enjoyed the angels and Reeve's typical twists in the third act. I read this in anticipation for the ARC of Scrivener's Moon I received from NetGalley. I had no idea the series had progressed so far!

It was much better than Fever Crumb, but the ending was bitter sweet for me and I wanted to pick up the sequel, which I don't currently have, or throw the book across the room. The story was much more original, though if I didn't read so many books like this, I'm sure Fever Crumb would also have been original. *shrug* But it broke open Fever's shell a little, which I enjoyed, because being an Engineer made her a very flat character.

If I read this BEFORE Mortal Engines, perhaps I would have enjoyed it more.
It was still a good read, although I still dislike the "rational" perspective, I disliked more the anti-religious attitudes.

In this adventure, Fever Crumb tries to solve the problem of flight. We are out of London, and spend most of out time in a town called Mayda-the-End-of-the-World. A mediterranean town with buildings that move up and down the hillside. There are gangsters, ship builders and Arlo Thursday who wants to fly.

The story had a good pace to it, with good moments of action. I felt throughout the whole book, that Fever wasn't the main character though. Arlo was the person trying to make things happen. Arlo was the one with the dream. Arlo was the one who suffered tragedy. Fever was kind of along for the ride.

I enjoyed the collection of characters in the town, who were more three dimensional than they first appeared. I feel like the story lacked a villain for the first half, but when they kicked in they were great. I also liked how Fever's views towards religion were shown throughout the story, and ended up shaping the ending massively.

We also got some Easter Eggs that I felt were holy unnecessary. We'll see in book 3 if they come to anything, but if they don't then they are even more spurious. Almost at a "What are we, some kind of Suicide Squad..." level.

Much much better than the first. Heartbroken for Arlo and Fever, and poor little Ruan.

Wonderful book, the characters are very good and Reeves is perfect as always.
