Another very satisfying outing with John Rain
I am a huge John Rain fan. That said, although Eisner writes each book to be a stand alone book, I do regret having missed the one immediately before this. There were brief references to it that would have made Rain’s motives in certain parts clearer for me but I will go back and read it even if it is out of order. Looking forward to the next one.

It's nice, with a series like this, to see actual, sensible, character growth. It would have been so easy for Eisler to write the same book over and over, but he doesn't. Throughout the whole series so far, we see Rain change and evolve as a person, rather than continuing on as a stone faced assassin. I mean he *is* that, but we see new facets of him, and explore deeper roots of his personality with each book. It's refreshing and immensely interesting.

John Rain is an assassin who is considering getting out of the life when his best friend Dox is kidnapped. Rain struggles between his desire for a "normal" life with his girlfriend Delilah and the killer instinct he sees as an integral part of who he is. The story takes you through California, New York, Paris, Saigon, Singapore, and Amsterdam - action-packed with a human touch.

Wanted to try one of this author's books, but it's just not my type of action story.
