I have to say that I enjoyed this book! It was a solid read, and though I can't give it five stars (a few too many problems), it was one that made me want to read the sequel.
About the problems:
The book was VERY long! Something like 900 kindle pages. Ain't nobody got time for that! It was hard for me to sit through it all.
There were a few issues with head-hopping--switching POV improperly. There were also a few typos and grammar mistakes. Not too bad, but enough to make me take notice.
The flashbacks were done a bit poorly. They didn't make a lot of sense, and were a bit unclear.
The ending was fairly predictable--this is typical high fantasy, after all--but I enjoyed it. I was genuinely glad to see the villain get what was coming to them, and felt relieved that the pair of heroes saved the day.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Goddess Choice is an epic and entertaining fantasy novel with likeable main characters and a very compelling world-build: I especially liked the concept of auras. Rodrek was my favorite and I enjoyed the scenes with him the most. The book had some slow parts, that dragged a bit - but overall I really liked it.

Somewhere between 3 & 4 stars. Mostly kept me engaged but did drag a little in parts because its was loooong. I liked it but would have enjoyed it more if it had been condensed and less drawn out. In particular, Robbie's suffering and Sam's dilemma over a consort were too drawn out. I liked the two meetings Sam & Robbie had - especially how the first one at the horse fair happened early enough so we weren’t waiting half a book for their story’s to intersect BUT these two meetings were too brief and too far apart for me to be convinced they felt anything more than mild interest/ attraction. For them both to be 'in love ' was ridiculous. I am curious to see what life holds for Sam & Robbie and how they will learn to be together and deal with all the scheming nobles but I am not sure I can face another drawn out saga to get my answers. Here’s hoping someone has written a nice detailed review of book 2 with spoilers.

I find it good and it is full of twists and turns. It is gull of mystery, and it's for the readers to know what is it.
