At this moment, Warriors of the Rainbow is the worst book I've ever read. When I picked it up at a used book fair I thought it was a found manuscript. Much to my surprise, the author is still alive but still there is an editor's note explaining that there's just simply a chunk missing of one of the most action driven chapters. The description of Imogen is fetishy and it's frankly disturbing that by the main male character doesn't care if the only female character is robotic or human. I am also confused why it's not until page 96 we learn that the world is run by whales. The world-building of why everyone was so afraid of intelligent animals like ants or whales was so inconsequential, the entire ecological history of these species in the beginning of the book made it seem like a biologists was trying their hand at fiction and failing. If you are not an old straight white man with a thing for African American women, keep this book on the shelf so it can rot into nothingness.
