Great read, but definitely not as good as the first book of the series.

What I had appreciated so much about The Beekeeper's Apprentice—the dynamic between Holmes & Russell—is not as central in this novel anymore. Where even was Holmes half the time? lol
Still, I sped through this book at a speed untypical for me, so I'd call it a success nonetheless.

Having read the blurb, I already knew to anticipate the inevitable (dreaded on my part) romantic subplot and while I have to say the author sort of made sense of this strange development I don't entirely appreciate it. Maybe it'll grow onto me more in the next book. We shall see.
