Discussion of sexual violence and it’s after effects is present in this book, but doesn’t occur between the main couple.

Essentially a paranormal, historical romance, the Scarletti Curse should be read before you start the Dark or Carpathian series as it eventually ties into both series. Drama, tension, and architecture all play a part.

Amazingly not that bad for a piece of romance. I do wish there was a bit less of sex and bit more of the gothic scary details, but that's probably too much to ask for anyway :)

Of the Christine Feehan books I've read thus far, this is probably one of the ones I enjoyed most.

What a spell that was woven within this gothic romance! to the young, free-spirited beauty Nicoletta to the enigmatic, dark, handsome Don Giovanni, you will be glued to the mystery and tragedy of what occurs in this tale. What I truly enjoy about the two books I have read by Christine Feehan is how she skillfully alludes the reader into believing this is a paranormal horror/love story; but not all is what it may be. I loved her cute and adorable friends Ketisa and Sophie, such sweet girls; to the hilarious and matronly Mia Pia always to give Nicoletta motherly advice. It is truly sorrowful what happens to a lot of the characters in this story so please be ready to rage and cry like I felt at parts during the story. Despite the dark overtone of the book, the humor and strength of the female characters really pulled this story through (except two in particular that I disliked greatly). Overall I recommend this book if you want a good chill through the bones and a few specks of light in the gothic romance realm.

I loved this! I think Don Gionvanni may be my new favourite lead male in a novel. I love that you see his gentle side and his dark side equally, without the story leaning towards one or the other. You're left wondering the whole time if he's just a great actor or if he really is the good guy.

I loved the whole concept, all the characters, the uncertainty of who to trust and who to believe. I think the whole mystical/supernatural storyline was a great back-up to the romance and crime aspects as well. Very original.

Surprisingly good Gothic style novel. I was expecting instasex early on in the book and was pleased that nothing happened until after they were married, in true Gothic form. There's supernatural elements with her healing abilities and portents of danger. He also is gifted and they share a psychic bond. That element is not over dramatized. This could easily be one of the 60s Gothic classic novels.

Ok so not rlly for me.
This is the type of writing where I feel so alienated from the characters, like I don’t /feel/ them (how eloquent). Also felt the pacing of certain reveals was a little odd. I also am a general hater of random non English words peppered in bc it never makes me feel like I’m in a particular environment, rather my brain is now saying the word in italics it’s incredibly distracting
