This book was challenging to read at times but I got really attached to the characters. I found myself immersed in the story, always wanting to know more about what would happen next. I love how Nigeria was brought to life in culture and experience through the very different lives and lifestyles of the main character's family and her cousins' family.

tw: domestic violence/ abuse
I just need 10 minutes with “papa”. he had me wanting to jump into the pages and teach him a lesson or two; and i’m not even a violent person :/  i appreciated kambili’s character development.

chimamanda is an excellent writer, and i enjoyed this book so much even though i was enraged. i feel like the ending could’ve been expanded a bit more.

I have found a brand-new author!!! Honestly one of the best stories that I have read this year. It is a story that takes its time to demonstrate itself, but once you get going, (at around 15% of the story) it will not let you go. This is a heavy book that does talk about heavy topics such as domestic abuse, so if you are sensitive, I would definitely read another book. This author doesn't hold back any punches when the characters are going through it, so warning y'all now before your mental health takes a dive.

I was a little worried because when I read americanah I somehow took a 6 year break in between. and I loved the book. so I was like oky this books sounds really cool I am excited but what if I take a 6 year break again?
I am happy to report there was no need for me to worry about this.
I started reading and it just sucked me in so to speak.
and I loved it a lot
I mean it also made me sad because of what it is about and all but it was a great story and I am very glad I finally read it
