A fabulously fun read! Nothing heavy or terribly deep, but a magic infused space opera is just what I needed. Characters who feel real and in whom you can get invested peopling a feudal space world where magic and technology and all scrambled together. Sometimes silly, sometimes rather poignant, this was just fun to read.

This book caught my attention when others were left off before the end of the first chapter. It challenged my predictions delightfully and even when conforming, took the characters in directions that I didn't fully envision. It is older YA, not because of emotional content, but because its political expectations are higher than many others.

Took me forever to finish it, at times it really caught me - I loved the mix between fantasy and sci-fi. Fairy gifts AND space adventures? And an awesome female protagonist where a love story isn’t front and center? COUNT ME IN!!!
