After three books already, I knew and happily anticipated what to expect. This is #3 in the Slough House/Slow Horses series (though the later-written Marylebone Rules chronologically fits immediately before it). “Same same but different,” as they say in Vietnam, the new ground here beyond the plot itself is the closer involvement of the Home Secretary and of the head of MI5, Ingrid Tierney. Well-written, well-plotted and drily humorous, this is my satisfying escapism-cum-cosy spy reading. With 6 still to read it’s a good prospect.
