Well-paced with some good plot twists, focussing more on the Park’s internal political brawls rather than outside influence.

Mick Herron’s Slough House series featuring Jackson Lamb is a fast-moving and entertaining antidote to the perfectly polished, slick, and smooth characters like James Bond and his ilk.  Best of all, Herron clearly likes and respects his female characters, even the sneaky, conniving ones.

Overwritten in the worst way so that I skipped a solid third of the book and still didn’t miss anything. Pacing is off, there are way too many people. It’s clearly written by a man and that’s not a compliment. It’s slow and dull and not even remotely close to a good thriller. I was bored and didn’t want to pick it back up
