A classic Julie James!
Love Irresistibly doesn't have the slight suspense sub-plots that her other entries into this series do, but it's a great read anyway.

Both Cade and Brooke are great characters - well-envisioned and created.

I felt that their connection to their families was not explored as well as the relationship they seemed to have with them warranted, but this is a great read anyway.

This is an adorable and steamy read and, as usual, the banter is witty, snappy and great.

Recommended for those who like their contemporary romances with a titch of snark and a lot of steam ;)

Wow! Julie has definitely upped her steamy game. I think this is my favorite of her books by a landslide and I really enjoyed all of the characters. Definitely brain candy but super readable, adequately steamy brain candy.

LOVE IRRESISTIBLY was a lot of fun! Julie James is one of my favorite authors because she writes great banter and her characters are always so likable and competent. We've seen Cade a few times in previous books and he's always been charming and easy going but now we see a large part of that is a façade to keep people at a distance before they can leave him. Cade is not interested in commitment and really, Brooke isn't either. She's on a fast track for her career and highly devoted to the company she works for. Both Brooke and Cade are workaholics who don't always get the work-life balance right.

I loved Brooke so much, she's like the woman I would aspire to be because she's so put together, knows her worth, both in business and personal life, and she's incredibly smart. But she's also not perfect and I liked that James created a heroine with flaws that don't hold her back necessarily, but do affect her life. Cade is a great match for Brooke because they're both sarcastic and outspoken. Together they were on fire and I really enjoyed watching them dance around each other. One of the nice things about LOVE IRRESISTIBLY is that the tension doesn't go away just because Brooke and Cade are sleeping together and I think this helps keep their relationship interesting for the reader.

I also loved seeing some of our past heroes and heroines, especially Cameron from the first book.

Favorite Quotes:

Vaughn threw out his hands in exasperation. “First Morgan, now you. Plus McCall’s getting married next month, and Pallas is having a kid. Purposely. Am I the only one not getting laid as part of an FBI sting operation?”

“I love you. On intense days. On good days. On long, exhausting workdays. On really strange days when I find out that I have a long-lost brother. And most of all, on days when you make me smile, which happens to be every day I’m with you.” He gazed deep into her eyes. “You are not just a big-picture girl for me, Brooke Parker. You’re the only picture.”

I wasn't as excited to read this book as I have been for the others by Julie James. The reason is that I wanted this one to be featuring Sam Wilkins and not Cade. And because Cade called Kyle a terrorist, which made me not like him. But if you haven't read the previous books of the series, this is going not going to makes much sense, so let's get to business.

Cade Morgan is a US Attorney. He's cool, calm and collected, not to mention very good at his job. Brooke is a businesswoman and — in one word — a workaholic. Both of them have had terrible luck with their love lives. Cade finds it difficult to really open up to someone and Brooke thinks that sex and the occasional date — when she can find some time off work, of course — are all it takes for a good relationship. So when they meet because of a case Cade needs Brooke's help with, they seem to be a perfect match. They both suck at relationship so there should be no issue keeping things casual. Because that always works, doesn't it?

Anyway, despite the hangups I had about Cade, I like him. He's such an organized guy, and I relate to that. Loved Brooke too, her ability to shake him a little, her drive to achieve and her practicality, even if the latter two did get in the way of her personal life.

This was an emotional read. But not in a sad way. In that it had a lot of emotion, a lot of heart, to it. Cade and Brooke's relationship was a slow burn, with a lot of bickering, obviously. The author took a long time to develop their relationship with each other and really immerse us in their lives, to show us where they were going wrong and why, and how they slowly figured that out on for themselves. My favourite thing about contemporary novels is getting to know the characters and about romance novel, seeing them connect with each other. Both job were accomplished very well.

In the end, all I can say is that is yet another great novel by Julie James and I highly recommend it.

I would have given this 10 stars if I could. I don't know what got me so drawn into this book. I loved the other books in this series but this one has got to be my favorite. Not to spoil anything but this book does not have a mystery of any kind but it is to me about 2 people finding each other at the right time in their lives. And working things out from there. Both characters really have to step out their comfort zones and make very important decisions in their lives. I just loved how it all played out. FANTASTIC SERIES AND FANTASTIC BOOK!!!

I didn't like this as much as I liked the others. I think it was because I kept waiting for some action, but this is just a straightforward romance. It plods forward, is never unpredictable, and just... *shrug*

I guess I wanted the bits of action and suspense that we had in the earlier books of the series. Oh well.
