This is a very difficult book to review. Not only is this book covering a sensitive topic, but it is also based on the lives of real people.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz tells the real life story of Lale Sokolov, a Holocaust survivor, who spent around 3 years in Auschwitz and became a tattooist, tattooing numbers into his fellow inmates.

I find books centred around World War Two to be very moving and emotional, and while I have read many based on completely fictional characters, this was the first one I’ve read about someone who was actually there.

I can’t comment on the accuracy of the story, however it was a moving story that, although difficult to read about, should be read and told.

While this wasn’t my favourite WW2 book I’ve ever read, I enjoyed it and I’m glad I read it.

This is greatly an informative book living through Lale's life in Auschwitz, there is a good coverage of the overall journey however the story does lack some depth. Some events and incidents are mentioned briefly whereas the reader may be interested in more detail. As it was based of a true story there is great detail of the actual individuals and the lives they lived.

I finished this book in a single day and it has rendered me speechless. It clearly lays out many of the horrors and atrocities of the holocaust and really makes you think about what people had to go through during this time. I was gripped from start to finish and can't wait to read more of Heather Morris' works

This is the remarkable true story of survival of a Jewish man and woman imprisoned in Auschwitz-Birkenau during the Holocaust. This is also a story of love through all odds in impossible and tragic circumstances.
