This character driven mystery is engaging, quirky, funny, and suspenseful by turns. The mystery is intriguing and unpredictable and romance develops along believable lines, for the most part. Given that the story takes place in a matter of days, it was refreshing that the author didn't try to shoe-horn in some adult content. I did find it challenging to believe that a librarian in her late twenties--living in New Orleans for 2 years--would be quite so inexperienced with men. That said, I'm eager to see what happens in the next book.

Action packed and laugh out loud funny. Alex and Nell have explosive chemistry, too bad the New Orleans wise guys won't let them have any time together. This book has mystery, plot twists, and well developed characters, you can't loose.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a very interesting and held my attention. And although there wasn’t a cliffhanger and we did get a Hea there were still several questions left without answers. I only hope she will wrap those up in a short story or something.

Am I the only one who hates when a narrator doesn't even try to find out the correct pronunciations of words? Its not bag-net. It's been-yay. (Beignet) Otherwise this wasn't too bad. I mean they butchered Metarie too but what are you going to do? The story was okay. The main issue I had with this was that everyone was "wise" from "wise guys" to "wise geezers" to "wise Kids" and it was a bit off putting. Not only because I read a lot of true crime and I know no one says that but also because I live close enough to NO and I've never heard that in my life. Maybe I'm being too harsh and I'd have liked this a lot more if it weren't the audiobook? Idk.

I started the second one but it was so robotic i stopped after chapter one.
