Different premise & historical setting than most which I liked. You could tell it was well researched

I LOVED THIS!!! I absolutely raced through this read and did not want to put it down. The pacing was PERFECT. Hur created an incredible atmosphere. The Jeju setting was described so vividly and was the perfect backdrop for the plot. The historical context seeped into every aspect of the story and was done incredibly well; it really piqued my interest in this part of history.

I will say that I did guess the resolution early on in the narrative, which would usually end up in a lower rating for a mystery/thriller book. But I don't want to mark it down because I loved it so much. I can't wait to read Hur's next book.

I didn’t know this was historical when I picked this up, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I knew that going in. The beginning was interesting, but I thought it was going to be more creepy and mysterious. I did learn things about Korean culture and history which I enjoyed. I also liked the sister relationship. I did kept getting people confused and I was confused as to why the sisters were separated, but I probably just didn’t hear that part(I listened to this). If you think this sounds interesting I would recommend you pick it up.
