4.5.

Read the ebook version.

Engaging blend of P.I. and magic workers among us with a strong mystery/suspense an excellent character development. The slow burn romance was a little too slow burn--the otherwise self-assured late-twenties heroine acting like an angsty teenager.

Wow. Just wow! I was blown away by this story! I loved Eli and her sass. Her bad bitch energy was the best and I really enjoyed how sweet Dan was. It was a wonderful juxtaposition to the normal Grumpy Sunshine (where the male is usually grumpy). I can’t wait to get the sequel and find out what happens next!!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book, despite the drama/trauma the characters endure has an easy going vibe in the best way. The prose was easily digested and from the first page I was swept up along for ride with the traumatized but determined main character. I read this book on holiday and after wrapping up instantly purchased the second part of the series as they're de initely page turners. I feel like this book is a perfect slump breaker.

As usual I will start by reviewing the cover photo. I really loved it. It is absolutely gorgeous and eye-catching. This book has fantastic world-building and the author has done a great job in writing about Occult practices like witchcraft and astral projection. It all felt so real. She has also included paranormal elements like ghosts in the story.

I enjoyed reading 'Oleander' by Jennifer Allis Provost. It was a fast-paced and engaging story that kept me hooked from the first page to the last. The plot was well-crafted and full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. The characters were likable and relatable, especially Eli, who was a strong and smart heroine with a witty sense of humor. I also liked the romance between Eli and Dan who was supportive and protective of her.

The book also explored some interesting themes, such as the role of fate and free will, the balance between light and dark, and the importance of family and friendship. I liked how the author incorporated elements of mythology, folklore, and history into the story, making it more rich and diverse. The book also had some humor and action scenes that added to the entertainment value.

Overall, I think 'Oleander' by Jennifer Allis Provost is a great read for fans of paranormal mystery and romance. I would recommend it to anyone who likes books with magic, mystery, and love.

I received this book as an ARC from Booksirens in exchange for an honest review!

I adored this book, it was a nice little palate cleanser after some of the heavier books I've read lately. It reminded me of some of my favorite TV shows, Ghost Whisperer and Charmed, and a bit of Supernatural. I also liked the reference to Lucifer. The one critique I did have was how accepting that Dan was after finding out that Eli was a Seer and that there was this whole supernatural world that existed that he had never had any experience with. It honestly made me suspicious of him the whole time. But their budding romance is super cute and I am excited to read more of their adventures. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Thank you so much to BookSirens for sending me an ARC of Oleander.

I had such a fun time reading this novel to me. I read it in one sitting and it helped pull me from my reading slump. It was such a fun and quick read which I believe Supernatural fans would absolutely love.

It's an urban fantasy that sees our main character hunting down ghosts and spooky entities with the help of the police. It was definitely a fun time to binge in bed on Saturday morning.

Would definitely recommend if you're in a slump and need a quick, snappy novel to drag you out of it!
