This book had the potential to be an all time favorite for me. This is probably one of the only books that has ever really made me feel truly uncomfortable with the themes and triggers. (Job well done

I tried to read this book because I do enjoy thrillers, but this one was just too realistic and disturbing,so I wasn’t able to finish it.

Five stars for pure readability. "The Crow Girl" catches you on the first page and takes you to some very disturbing places but you will not be able to stop reading. Kudos to translator Neil Smith for catching the voice of the authors and rendering it so seamlessly into English.

I like that three books were combined into one big thriller which leads to a mega ride for readers. Super stuff. Scary and creepy stuff as well, so be prepared.

I do not know where to start so I will start from the very beginning.
This book is written by two authors, and if you are attentive enough, you would be able to tell, since the characters have slightly different tones throughout. It is translated, and the process, I believe the editor or the translator decided to cut out about 400 pages from the original series (no clue why!).
third, though to us, this is one 700+ pages book, however, originally it is made into a trilogy.
this is a very dark, psycho-thriller, and I am bound to mention the trigger warning, since it is graphic in the sense, and talks about rape, assault, pedophilia, cannibalism, gruesome acts of the sort.
Don't get me wrong, I dod not mind these books one bit. however, I have several comments on teh execution of this book.
to start with, there were so many characters, and it was very incoherent. reading this mostly felt like reading a very bad first draft! what I mean is that it felt like the authors were writing as they go, without previous planning, and further editing.
I was lost so many times in the book, it irritated me.
in the beginning, I understand it was expected, given that we were getting to know the characters, and uncover them slowly, and understand later who we were talking about, only to realize that at first, it was mostly going back and forth in time talking about that one character.
second, the name of the book has almost nothing to do with the story, reading, I was hoping that at some point we would get to discover who is the crow girl, and why is she called so. I formed several hypotheses along the way until I got the last <100 pages of the book, to only get a horrible explanation (if you can even call it so) written in few lines, and then brushing over it to another point in time.
third, there were so many personalities ( i won't mention who and what because of spoilers), but one; most are unnecessary and make no point, two; some just pop up once and then disappear, and this is a pet-peeve, no "other personality" would just be there for one or two times, and then disappear, I think it would be an impulse, not a disorder!!! three; it killed me how *poof* with one magical potion ((I'm sarcastic)) that sick person is no longer sick, and no longer have a personality disorder, and is suddenly determined and strong. like ummm,, no excuse you, this is just not okay, and not logical, and it felt more like they ran out of space and ideas, and had to wrap it up quickly, so they decided on "oh, let's get them healthy? no more sick ideas and sick personalities!!!!!" it's horrible!
fourth, the unraveling of certain personalities was done awfully, like they spent time on unecceary stuff, but then quickly introduced teh backstory and the ending of two characters in a few pages. which is again very annoying and badly executed!
five, the ending of the book is the worst ending I have read in a long long time, and let me say this, I hate cliche endings, but I would understand the need for it, but THIS ending is just no.
my face showed no expression, I was immensely bored halfway through the book, and felt like I am pushing through just so I know what the heck was going on.
if I try harder I think I can still go on and on, but I would rather stop here if you liked the book, I am happy for you, really, and I would like to know what did you find amusing.
the only reason I'm giving it 2.5 stars was the fact that it had some good plots, some good ideas, and some execution was done right, other than that, I would not recommend this book
